In this lesson, students are introduced to the public health facet of environmental justice. Using the issue of pollution, students will identify and discuss the various kinds of pollution and the multitude of ways it impacts human health and the environment. Students will consider how our relationship with pollution differs based on race, wealth, and class. Using real environmental justice data, they will map the injustices of pollution within their community. In conclusion, students will discuss local support options for public health-related issues.
