In this lesson, students will learn about the White Savior Industrial Complex, a term coined by the Nigerian-American novelist Teju Cole to describe harmful non-profit and humanitarian practices that reinforce racism. Students will engage in different activities that will enhance their understanding of this term. They will be watching different videos related to this topic, they will engage in group discussions, photographs, commentaries, and writing activities. They will also engage in a conversation about what they can do to eradicate this practice and apply this knowledge toward a better future for our most disadvantaged people and communities.
